On first and third Tuesday evenings, interviews/ dokusan is available with the resident teacher at Waldo. These are opportunities to meet one-on-one with the teacher to discuss any aspect of your spiritual practice, and to get specific guidance in breathwork, shikantaza, or koan exploration. On these evenings we begin with a 25-minute full liturgy period, followed be alternating zazen and kinhin (walking meditation). The evening informally ends after the second period of zazen, but we will continue with zazen and kinhin until everyone wishing to have an interview has had one. If you’ve been coming to Waldo for some time, and need or wish to leave early for any reason and want to make sure you get interview early, please tell the practice leader.

On the second Tuesday of each month, there will be a Dharma talk offered by a Dharma teacher, Senior Dharma Teacher, or Guiding Teacher from within Boundless Way, or a guest teacher. On these nights, we will do an abridged liturgy lasting just 5 minutes, followed a full period of zazen, kinhin, and a half-period zazen. An opportunity for questions-and-answers and group discussion will follow.

On the fourth Tuesday of each month, there will be a Dharma talk by Josh Bartok, a Senior Dharma Teacher within Boundless Way.  On these nights, we will do an abridged liturgy lasting just 5 minutes, followed a full period of zazen, kinhin, and a half-period zazen. An opportunity for questions-and-answers and group discussion will follow.

On fifth Tuesdays, when they occur, there will usually be an additional opportunity for interviews. Occasionally this time may be used for another event, such as a discussion or training on the instruments used for the liturgy service.

On first Monday nights at the Hank Sangha in Newton, as well as on second Saturday mornings at Spring Hill Zen in Medford, Josh Bartok offers interviews/dokusan. All are welcome. On third Monday nights at Hank, Josh will be giving a talk or taking public questions with another BoWZ Dharma teacher.
